reivew of HOLIDAY COPS
MRR #329
Hi-fructose-corn-syrup powered Canadians that sound like some band that woulda played the Last Pogo in 78 aiming for something more along the lines of the FIRE ENGINES. It’s got the herky jerk of that era of Postcard (records) punk, but skewed through a pleasant Canadian power-pop lens. But there’s no Scottish Messthetics-esque bile here! If Franz Ferdinand weren’t a huge rock band but instead played basement shows? Maybe more FUTUREHEADS? Seriously, if you like old DIY Scottish post-punk, but want it cleaned up and a little perkier, this record is the solution to that problem!
