What's DEAD STOP about? Line-up, history and shit? We've got Lino on vocals, Michiel on guitar, Coorde on Bass and Gert on drums. Me and Coorde started a band before with Erik Uncontrollable on guitar but that didn't work out for one or another reason, so we asked Michiel to come and play guitar since we knew he liked bands like Antidote, DYS and The Abused. We needed a singer and some people even applied for it like it was a job or something, but we found Lino with the right attitude and perfect voice! Before DEAD STOP there was another lineup with Coorde, Gert, Tilburg (now in The Uncontrollable) on guitar and Packo on vocals. What happened to that lineup? Do you play those songs or are they gone forever? As mentioned before, it didn't work out. So we wrote all new songs. I know that The Uncontrollable still play one song that we wrote back then. DEAD STOP hit it off right away, unlike most of the band members previous bands. Do you think it's a hardcore rule that you have to struggle in shitty bands first? We didn't struggle in shitty bands. As for me, I was in Building, which I don't like anymore now, but we were pretty successful back then. We played some fucking great show with that band and did 2 euro tours. As for Between The Lines (Michiel's other band) it's almost the same thing. It seems like people start to appreciate them just now. They still play the NYHC stuff like they used to. It's the kids taste that changes. What's your favourite Dead Stop song so far? For me (Gert): Leave Me Alone Has anyone (including bandmembers) ever read the DEAD STOP lyrics? What are you going to do if you find out Lino sings about touching little boys? We all read the lyrics. And they deal with his personal feeling towards other people he hates. So that's cool. If Lino wants to sing about touching little boys, he'll mean beating them up. How important is soccer to DS? Are you going to write a song about JAMAICAN REFEREES? We're not writing songs about Jamaicans, not in a negative way. The Bad Brains loved Jamaicans! We will write a song about Brazilians though... You have a 7" scheduled on REFLEX records, which means you're going to be on the same label as DYS, Negative FX, GIs, Jerrys kids,... Any news on that yet? Yeah! We will tour with those bands! What about that ?!? It will be out as you read this! Being an asshole is cool these days in hardcore. Which band member is a true asshole? People say it's me, I haven't got a slightest idea why, but I can live with that. Detroit or Boston hardcore? I go for Boston hardcore because more bands came from that area. But almost nothing can beat Negative Approach of course! No Reagan=no hardcore. Do you think Belgium would have better bands if the Vlaams Blok was elected? Come on, like politics has anything to do with hardcore? Do you think you're interviewing .Calibre??? Your demo seems to be getting a lot of good feedback from the States. How did all this happen so fast? Larry and Flex went to the States and took some demos with them. People liked us, what can we say? Good PR! You recorded a couple of coversongs (Boiling Point, Right Brigade, Reagan Youth) at the demo session. Are those recordings ever going be used? These songs are already used. 10 demo's have cover songs on them. There will be a CD version of the 7", maybe a couple of songs will be on there as well. Since you're all decent musicians, are you planning on disappointing everyone with a "fire and ice " or "how we rock" style album? Definately! In fact, Coorde has already written some riffs for that album. Pit (The Deal) will join us on second guitar for those recordings... You guys have an American Pie thing going on. Gert totally looks like Stiffler and Coordes' stagepresence reminds me of Shitbreak. So, who is the apple pie humper, Lino or Michiel? Didn't you invent that? So is Lino's mom really hot? Maybe you should ask that to some GLUE members... and don't even think about it sick perv! Do you think some moron will eventually have a problem with you guys sieg heil-ing on stage?
