Fucked Up
FUCKED UP
no pasaran 7"
(DY30)

Toronto's best-kept secret offers two tracks including their classic 'circling the drain'. Featuring ex-members of RUINATION, FUCKED UP play burly mid-paced hardcore punk with strong growling vocals comparable to those of Negative Approach and Citizen's Arrest. With a heavy emphasis on melody and catchy song writing this offers a good delivery of angst.

Blue in the Face #1
Fucked Up is the best band coming out Toronto these days. They play mid-paced HC with growing vocals not unlike Negative Approach/Citizen's Arrest. If I'd never heard of these guys, and someone put this on, I would not be able to tell the difference between stuff coming out 20 years ago, and what they are doing now. My only gripe was the mastering of this recording. Though it was recorded well, the vocals seemed to be mixed a little low, but you can't really count that as a negative. You can download a new song from their upcoming 7" on Deranged at the website called "Police" (MUCH better mastering job), check out, and then order this record immediately.

Fracture #22
Fast, raw but incredible quality and every bit as furious and hardcore to the max as one could be. They take the basic Negative Approach style of hardcore, but bring it up to date and smack a dose of angry hate to it. The A side is political as fuck, the B side shows the fucked up nature of humans. There are only two songs, but I think they are recording for more stuff, they need to as this is just incredible. We need more Fucked up and bands like this. There are a lot of good bands out there today and this is just one of them. Buy this 7" today, if you don't then you are not hardcore - period.

MRR #232
Toronto's FUCKED UP slap you right in your ugly kisser with two great burly-as-fuck hardcore hoe downs. Drenched in imagery of the Spanish civil war, with a nice poster to boot, these Canadians lyrically deal with the aforementioned as well as the daily grind of living on fucked up planet earth. Great production that totally suits the bands style, fast without breaking the sound barrier and luckily lacking in the dirgy trappings of many other bands in this category. I do like it when political bands flex a bit ! of muscle slightly taking on an almost straight edge hardcore feel. Comparison wise I'll go with the H100's, apart from that my mind has drawn a blank. Not at all grindy but very very angry.
