SMALLTOWN
years, months 7"
(DY51)

Proud to have this three piece Swedish outfit join the roster. With two solid ep's under thier belt, but still little exposure to North America, this ep should turn a few heads. They've been compared to the likes of Stiff Little Fingers and Newtown Neurotics and that's probably as good a comparison as it gets. Tuneful melodic punk rock with slightly raspy vocals. Currently working on a full length.

MRR - Tim Brooks Top 10 of 2003
SMALLTOWN "Years, Months" ep - Why the fuck this band isn't huge is beyond me. They have 3 amazing 7's but are hardly known, but are one of the best bands I've ever heard (seriously). Total STIFF LITTLE FINGERS/BELTONES, but at times even better. The song writing is so strong, and the songs just stick in your head. Only 2 songs and one is a cover (their Newtown Neurotics cover is better than the original), but still its one of the best discs of the decade.

MRR #236
Smalltown continues to impress on this their second single, with their bitterly melodic punkrock a la Newtown Neurotics or SLF punk attack. Once again, another record for the punk history books.

Razorcake
Some bands have it. Most don't. You know, that spark that wakes the monster. That chord that ignites a roar. That phrase that makes you go 'shit yeah' and you find yourself yelling happily at your record player for being so good to you today. You dance a little retarded dance. Smalltown's somehow nailed the bright, jangly, slashy guitars of frantic Jam and hooked into a fresh keg tapped with foaming modern oi. I don't quite get how bands like Smalltown can approach a form of music that's been a dead end for so many before and make it all fierce and bouncy again, like it'd just been born. A trio of Swedes pulled it off. This is excellent.
