DEAD STOP
done with you 12"/CD
(DY57/58)

Absolutely fierce, in your face hardcore reminiscent of early Agnostic Front, Negative Approach and even a little Cro Mags. Sure, how often does a band get compared to the above and how often are you dissapointed? Well not this time! This is no bullshit fast hardcore punk at its best; catchy tunes, powerful vocals and top notch productions. A contender for best of 2004.

Okay, so I know this band got reviewed recently here. But like KNIFE FIGHT, VIOLENT MINDS, SNOBS, a whole other mess of hardcore bands, it seemed that a lot of the straight edge kids were hip to these bands before anybody else started to pay attention. The DEAD STOP 7" seemed to go largely unnoticed here. Thankfully someone at DERANGED records was paying attention, because they just released their LP in North America. This record will be turning a lot of heads (and rightfully so). I can seriously say that no one is going to top this Belgian band's ability to blend some of my favorite hardcore bands of all time, and put out one intensely fierce, well produced, catchy as fuck hardcore record. The closest band I can compare them to is AGNOSTIC FRONT, but ANTIDOTE and NEGATIVE APPROACH also come to mind. Every song on here blazes. My only problem with it is that some of the guitar leads seem out of place. But they will probably grow on me. Easily one of the best LPs to come out in 2004. Don't sleep on this record.

Wow, this is really fucking good. Rough-as-fuck hardcore punk that takes its cues from POISON IDEA, NEGATIVE APPROACH and perhaps a little SLAPSHOT. Burly sounding songs with angry lyrics about being fed up with everything. They manage not to sound like a rip off band, and even manage to sneak in a couple brutal breakdowns without throwing the record off. I don't really know what to say beyond that, it is just a really fucking good record. Did I mention it's fucking good? FUCK

Okay, Gord at Deranged Records must have taken a wheel barrel full of fat pink little infants and offered it up to Choronzon as a sacrificial snack in exchange for favorable luck in stumbling across amazing band after amazing band. How else do you explain Fucked Up, Career Suicide and now Dead Stop - all on DERANGED? My god, what other awesome, run-away cement truck bands do they have on their roster that I don't yet know about? Any other label would be lucky to have just one band of that caliber, let alone three. Like those other DERANGED bands, DEAD STOP is a hardcore band that somehow manages to sound like they've re-invented hardcore, even if they really haven't. This is anything but generic, formulaic hardcore. This CD hits you like someone swinging the business end of a twenty-pound carp right into your mush. And it's all the cooler because it's been reported to me that Lino, the lead singer, is a truculent little elf who likes to wear fingerless gloves and a teeny-tiny leather jacket. Awesome band.

Europe's best hardcore band, playing hardcore the way it was meant to be and always guaranteeing "zotte sfeer". Their EP on Wolfpack was so well-received that soon every kid in Europe -and shortly after the world- knew that their energetic and non-compromising hardcore like ANTIDOTE, early AGNOSTIC FRONT and NEGATIVE APPROACH was of a never before heard level. Their debut album 'Done With You' released on their own Complete Control label (on Deranged in the US/Canada) and is sure to go down in the books as one of the most legendary hardcore records ever. We are, we are...DEAD STOP!

FUCKING HELL!!! This is most likely THE best REAL hardcore record ever done in Europe. Remember how Voorhees' first album hit you like a brick. Dead Stop hits you like a ten ton truck! 15 songs of insane early '80's style hardcore.
